On an annual basis, thousands of lorries carrying hazardous electronic waste are hitting our landfills simply because people still choose not to recycle mobile phones, but instead to throw them away. In recent months, The Independent Newspaper reported that there were 11,000 tons of unused mobile handsets in the UK alone which haven’t as yet even been disposed of, but are lying around in people’s homes.
