Once it was in your head and now it is in your pocket

For increasing numbers of us information that used to be in our heads is now stored in our mobile phones and pocket PCs. We carry round all kinds of information that used be in our heads, or shut away somewhere safe, in our pockets and we don’t give it a second thought. Think for a moment of how lost you would be without your mobile phone and all the things you have stored in its memory instead of in your own. Not only phone numbers of friends but business contacts and messages with tons of personal information, after all you may delete items in your inbox but most of us don’t clear out the sent box very often. Between the thieves that target mobile phones and the ones that get left wherever we happen to be, like in a bar, on the train or in a shop, the number of mobile phones that go missing every day is astronomical. Now most of us know that it would be a good idea to back up our information so we have all our phone numbers somewhere in case the phone goes missing but few of us do it. Worse than that we should have mobile antitheft software but we rarely do.
